Shinjuku Incident
Watching Shinjuku Incident is Ning's idea.
I have not read the review of the movie, just knew that it's another Jacky Chan movie.
Ok, why not.
So, I went to the movie theater expecting the usual Jacky Chan's movie - action movie with humors jokes or acts every now and then in the movie.
The movie tells the life of illegal immigrants that worked in Shinjuku, how they have to run away from police's ambushes and how they succumb to the fate of involving themselves with the illegal business as well as gangsters. The storytelling style was so direct, straighforward, with no sugar coating. REAL adn BRUTAL. I am glad that I brought an extra jacket with me to the cinema (cos I thought it was going to be cold in there)... because I was using it the whole time to block my view when I need to use both my index fingers to block my hearing... Too brutal to watch.
At the end of the story (spoiler ahead...). none of them survived. Ning said that it's all Jacky's fault because the rest of his friends probably won't die if he didn't do what he did. I don't know if i can agree with that, they probably won't die like this, but one way or another, their lives were always threatened by what they were doing.
The fight ended when the police came, when everyone died. And then, the movie ended. I heard total silence among the audience, no one speaks, no casual conversation or laughter. I guess most of us were mentally exhausted with so much emotion and violent in 2hours.
This is definitely not the usual Jacky Chan's movie. Not the "entertaining" movie that I was looking forward to. My bad, I should have read the review first. The usual "Making of" when the movie ends was not shown in this movie too - you know, sometimes when you watch the bad guys in the "Making of", you kinda remember again that the bad guys are not bad, they were just acting... but this one, tak dak :<
I definitely won't say that I "enjoy" watching the movie - it sounds very wrong to use the word.
