Saying bye bye to 2009: 1 day

no.1: I am Married!

Yes! Ning and I am officially married on 27 Nov 2009!

We took our own sweet time and didn't really started doing the actual preparation unless about 2 months prior the wedding. Luckily we made a very wise decision to hire wedding planner to run the show. Most of the nitty-gritty stuff were taken care of.

A lot of my friends told me we should enjoy the whole wedding preparation. I have to say, the process of wedding preparation is a pain in the ass! Ning and I have argued so much during the wedding preparation. He always have his last minute opinions after he said 'whatever you like, I am OK'. The stress was invisible but emotionally enormous. We didn't realized it but neither one of us was really enjoying it.

We decided to take a break and flew to Hong Kong for a weekend 2 months before the wedding. It was great to be able to go away for awhile from the hectic planning.

We decided to host a wedding reception for the relative in Penang 1½ month before we finalized our wedding invitation. We were lucky that we still managed to book a venue for the reception.

3 weeks before the wedding, I went on my hen trip with my girl friends from work. 3 of us chilled in Bali for a weekend, nothing kinky happened :P

The whole wedding starts even before the wedding day.

Ning's relatives and friends arrived a week before the wedding, and the house was filled with joy and laughter. Every other day we will have guests checked into the hotel.

My hen night was 2 days before my wedding, dinner at Sassarosso with PKs, my cousin Winny and 2 of my closest friends at work. It was a nice dinner but nothing wild happens because I had to go home early for the pre-wedding family portrait photography on the next day.

Make up session started at 7am. It was early! All of the relatives came to look at me - which they ended up couldn't recognized me because of the sudden amazing transformation from plain Jane to pretty Juling. haha..

We had the photoshoot from 930am until 2pm. After the wedding rehearsal at 6pm, we had our rehearsal dinner with all the closed family members, relatives, bridal party and friends from oversea.

Being a Chinese, I still want to keep the custom of 出嫁 from my parents' house. Again, I had to make up as early as 730am. The apartment was crowded with more than 30 people. The bridesmaid arrived earliest to do their makeup and hairstyling. Then the 姐妹 then my cousins and finally the groom and his buddies. Not to forget we have about 1 videographer and 6 photographers, well, we only hired 2.

One of the custom Ning has to go through is the 'challenges' the girls gave him and we ended the morning session with a simple tea ceremony for the family. Then, we have to rush to TWKL for the wedding ceremony cum registration.

The poolside wedding ceremony was very nice but hot. It has been raining and cloudy for more than 2 weeks and we were hoping that it doesn't rain during the ceremony. But we didn't anticipate bright sunny day! I apologized for making all the guests stood under the 12noon tropical sun to witness the wedding registration.

Walking on my 3½ inches eclipse classy heels was just so painful! I have to find all the opportunity to sit down. Yet, my 6 photographers were very enthusiastic to take pictures of me and Ning, plus the bridal party. We were told to walk over here, stand over there... wAAAAHHhhhhhh!!!!!!

By the time we got back to the room, it was already about 3pm. After taking shower, it was time to go for the dinner rehearsal at 4pm. And I have to go straight to do my make up at 4.30pm because the tea ceremony for both sides of the family will happen at 6pm! Which means, I won't get any chance to rest.

While the makeup artist and hairstylist were busy doing the makeup, I couldn't help but fell asleep on a chair. So tired. Right at the moment they finished the makeup, the tea ceremony started. The ceremony took about an 1hour and sigh... we have to go down to the ballroom to greet the guests already. ahhhHHH... my feet.

It was great to see everyone in their suits and best dress. The sight was just so pretty. I only regret that I didn't get to take pictures with many friends. I didn't even take a picture at the flower photo wall which was super nice! and I didn't check out the kids room :(

My most memorable part of the wedding is the wedding march. With Lea Salonga singing 'Two Words' at the background, Ning and I walked into the ballroom, I think I look pretty. I am still waiting for the photos!

I like every bit of my wedding. The flowers, the lighting, the mood, the favors, the music, the setup, the food, the speeches, ... everything. Ohh... Not to mention that I fell on my 1st dance! But I am not bragging, it was really a great wedding! or at least I felt that way. The after party was a little bit crazy. We have people that puked in the ballroom, Nan ripped off Ning's tuxedo shirt, I only remember vaguely what happened after that.

The last thing I remember was Ning was trying to pull out all the hair pins on my hair, and the next thing I know was, it's morning! I slept with my makeup, hairdo and contact lenses, and woke up the same plus a really good hangover. It was really bad!

Having the 'fetch-the-bride', wedding registration, tea ceremony and wedding dinner reception in 1 day is truly a daring thing to do! It was SO tiring! To top it up, we decided to head to Penang at noon! Wahhh!!!!! It's 10.30am and I haven't pack yet!!!!!

We showered, had a quick breakfast (Angie and Ken walked to Jalan Imbi to tapau for us, thanks!), sqeezed all the stuff that came into our sight into the luggage, and jam pack into the bus. We had a 28seater bus for the whole family and friends just for ourselves to Penang. It was fun because we chat the whole journey to Penang.

well... this is going to be long. If you are bored, you can stop reading right here.

We reached Penang at 6pm. After checked into Evergreen, my sister - my wedding's emcee for both KL and Penang needs to prepare for her speech next day. That was when I realized that we forgot to bring along all the slideshows and music that we need to play at the reception! O.M.G.

We called our wedding planner in KL and he said he'll arrange something. We had a great seafood dinner at Bali Hai, Gurney Drive. It was 11pm at night when we still haven't figure out a way to get the CDs here - Car rental company charged RM930 so that they can chartered a taxi to bring the CDs to Penang... right! We finally found a solution when Toh from concierge proposed to bring the CD to one of the Nice buses that went to Penang at 730am the next morning. He passed the CDs to the driver and we met up with the driver when the bus reached Penang at 1.30pm. Phew! We took the USA friends to a few places in Penang, i.e. Khoo Kongsi, Fort, Cornwallis and we went for the BEST mee goreng and mee masak in Penang.

I had my makeup at 4pm. Only then that I realized I forgot to bring the jewelry and hair accessories for my wedding gown, plus the hair accessories for the evening gown. That means, even if I am fine to wear just 1 outfit throughout the night, I can't.

It was a busy wedding weekend in Penang and most of the jewelry and hair accessories were rented out. I was concerned, so was the makeup artist. Well, I was the 1st bride she came across that forgot about the jewelry and accessories. OK. I got it.. Ning came back for the AV setup at the restaurant at 5pm and he decided to go for a swim. The makeup artist was overwhelmed. She said, you two are the most relax bride and groom I've ever seen. Anyways, the makeup artist was very helpful. She found some jewel set that matches the wedding gown and evening gown, and everyone was relief until Ning returned from swimming and said, I forgot to bring the cufflink. The makeup artist was speechless.

We were all set by 6.30pm for the tea ceremony. I have about 80 relatives jammed into the venue. Ning's relatives were so amazed ~ with the 1 child policy, Ning don't have that many relatives.

We had a great Malaysian Chinese style dinner reception. I got the chance to meet and greet all the relatives that attended the wedding - this is something that Ning and I regretted we didn't do well in the KL reception.

After the dinner, the whole bridal party that came along decided to go to RedBox! It was 12midnight. The guys had their drinking session playing bluff. Nan was so drunk that he couldn't join us for Nasi Kandar at 3am. Yes, 3am :)

We finally called it a night after that because Nan, Sunny and Winny had to catch a morning flight to Hong Kong. Ouch...

We came back to KL on the same day, feeling relief that the wedding is finally done! Almost.
